my craftsy class, yay !!!

Hello lovelies, remember when I talked about the amazing opportunity I had a few weeks back when I flew to Denver and recorded a sewing class with Craftsy ? Yeah, the class is now live and it all is super surreal, and exciting, and intimidating all at the same time, eeeeek !!! My class Giftable Projects: Zippered Bags and Purse Organizer is a six lesson class with detailed instructions and lots of tips on how to make three different zipper pouches. Would you like to see the pouches I designed for the class? Here we go.  Easy Coin Pouch with removable wrist strap is the first (and easiest project). I love this sweet little pouch and have made quite a few of them for my daughters and their friends already.  The second pouch I teach is Double Zip pouch which makes a perfect pencil pouch or make up bag. laura purse {new pdf pattern}

Hello everyone!


I'm super excited to introduce my newest Laura Purse pattern to you today. It's a wonderfully roomy everyday purse (finished size is 12" wide x 12.5" tall x 5" deep) with one zipper pocket and one slip pocket on the inside, and a super fun drawstring closure.


I've been using my Laura purse for weeks now and I absolutely love that it fits all my necessities and there's still room for a few extras.


Materials needed to make this purse:
fabric A (main exterior fabric) – ½ yard
fabric B (contrasting exterior fabric) – ½ yard
fabric C (lining) – ½ yard
interlining fabric (canvas, denim, or some other heavier weight fabric) to make your bag sturdier – ½ yard 
SF 101 interfacing (or other medium weight fusible interfacing of choice) – 2 ½ yards
one 8” long metal or nylon zipper
twelve 3/8” grommets or 7/16” extra wide eyelets
two 1 ¼” D-rings
two 1 ¼” swivel lobster hooks

Once again, I had a few super talented ladies test the pattern for me and I'm beyond excited to show off their beautiful makes.

Ellyn made this gorgeously bright purse for her daughter. Lucky girl.


And then she went ahead and made another Laura purse using Michael Miller's fabric called "wove it or weave it" for herself. Just beautiful.



I'm totally smitten with Vicki's stunning purse. This fabric combination is absolutely divine and I love that Vicki added an exterior zipper pocket to her purse.


Oh, and look at this super chic purse Annette made. Lovely, isn't it? Those giant dots are fabulous.

un-paper towels (a quick tutorial)

Hello friends, I hope 2018 is off to a good start for you all! I'm not a fan of new year's resolutions as I tend to break them almost as soon as I think them up :),  but I did decide to focus more on producing less waste this year. My whole family is on board (which makes even small changes a lot more doable) and our first task is to work on reducing the amount of paper and plastic products we use in our kitchen. To start things off, I decided to replace our paper towels with a bunch of fabric un-paper towels . I came across quite a few suggestions on how to make these - some were just plain fabric, others had little snaps or grommets attached. In the end I went with a simple combination of cotton fabric and terry cloth, not adding any hardware as I worried that it might scratch my dishes or counters. I used some pretty fabric that's been sitting in my stash for far too long to make these. I even had some terry cloth on hand so the whole process was super quick and very, ve...

two small finishes

Hello lovelies, are you enjoying this holiday season? I must say, the week between Christmas and New Year is almost always a bit of a drag for me :(. I usually imagine myself resting and enjoying these slow days, but in reality I just start feeling unproductive and anxious most of the time. So this year I adjusted my idea of recharging and instead of sitting around forcing myself to relax, I decided to include some just for fun sewing in my days. And, it worked !!! I almost forgot how wonderfully freeing it feels to sew with no deadline or commitment in mind :).   I whipped up this drawstring bag to keep my newest knitting project nicely organized, ... .... and of course I needed a matching itty bitty pouch for my stitch markers, scissors, and needles. These were not time consuming projects at all and I thoroughly enjoyed sewing them up. Plus, I got to use this super, super fun Essex Linen by Sarah Golden. It's such a perfect fabric for one's project bag, don't you think?...
